To the editor: The Navajo tribe wants to build a destination resort along Grand Canyon's eastern rim overlooking the Little Colorado River. They presume to launch river trips that would blast 62 miles to the Little Colorado River in one day, ignoring National Park Service oversight of Colorado River boating. Papillon Helicopters is negotiating with the tribe to land alongside the river and fly boats and tourists out to the rim. The tribe would abandon designation of its own biological reserve along Marble Canyon's rim in favor of a quick buck.
