Sunday, June 24, 2018 letters: PrideFest, climate change, unaffiliated voters, Sent. Bennet’s speech 27.6.2018 Denver Post: Opinion
PrideFest celebrates all families Re: “Not a fan of Pride photo,” June 19 letter to the editor I wonder if the couple who were so outraged about the PrideFest photo felt any sense of that same rage over the much less “family friendly” headlines and photos about forced separation of immigrant families. Our grandchildren know that family consists of those people who love and care for you. Some of their friends are raised by single parents, others by two mommies or two daddies, others by a daddy who is now a mommy. Our family feels comfortable accepting the various families who make up our community. What we can’t accept is the idea that some families don’t matter. They also love and need to be together just like our family does. Family friendly should apply to all families! Ann Fairbairn, Arvada

Utahns turn art into activism: ‘When we dance, we can’t help but feel part of nature’ 16.6.2017 Salt Lake Tribune
Throughout history, artistic expression has been a catalyst for political activism — using creativity to bring awareness to social ills and sometimes proposing solutions. This summer, Utah’s dancers are taking steps to bring attention to climate change, land conservation and respect for nature. As part of the nation’s burgeoning environmental arts movement, three Salt Lake City dance projects highlight sustainability issues through innovative aesthetic experiences in Utah’s vast open lands and i... <iframe src="http://www.sltrib.com/csp/mediapool/sites/sltrib/pages/garss.csp" height="1" width="1" > </frame>

Op-ed: It should be obvious that science is a good thing 28.4.2017 Salt Lake Tribune
I was sitting in a bar in Washington, D.C., waiting for a poster party to start before the March for Science, when I overheard two guys and the bartender trying to figure out exactly what the march was supposed to accomplish. I had to sort of agree with them; a march for science would seem to be as necessary as a march for motherhood or a march against man-eating sharks. It should be obvious that science is a good thing. And yet, there I was, getting ready to make a poster for a protest march. T...
