CIL to auction 45 MT coal in FY19 20.4.2018 General News
State-owned CIL said today that it would put on offer a little over 45 million tonnes of coal under the special forward auction in the current fiscal. "In yet another step in reaching out to its consumers, Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced a Special Forward e-auction calendar for 2018-19 facilitating the power plants to systematically plan the lifting of the coal requirement for the fiscal 2018- 19," a CIL official said in a statement. The state-owned firm said it will put on the block a little over 45 MT of coal under the special forward auction. All the coal producing arms of CIL have uploaded the month-wise, source-wise quantity of coal they will be putting up for sale under the special forward auction right up to March next year. SHILLONG, April 19: Congress MLA from Umroi George Bankyntiew Lyngdoh has questioned how a ‘bunch of crooks’ keeps outsmarting the state government while claiming that illegal coal mining operations are taking place in South West Khasi Hills district, leading to leakage of revenue from the transportation of extracted coal.
Moving a call attention motion during the Budget session here on Thursday, Lyngdoh drew the attention of the state government to the alleged rampant illegal coal mining reported in South West Khasi Hills District even as he expressed concern over five points which include illegal rat-hole mining, forcing of children to work as coal labourers, negative impact of mining on the environment, overloading of coal trucks and circulation of fake challans.

SHILLONG, April 17: BJP legislator in Meghalaya and cabinet Minister AL Hek has reiterated that the ban on coal mining would have been lifted within 180 days had the people had given their mandate to BJP.
“180 days we have promised in our manifesto if people give mandate to us but since we got only two BJP MLAs and we did not get the mandate so I have nothing to say when it will be resolved,” Hek said on Tuesday.
