SHILONG, July 16: The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been pulled up by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the State Assembly for its failure to implement funs to the tune of Rs 200 crore which was funded by a cement company for the socio-economic development of the areas falling within the 50 km radius of the mining site at Nongtrai-Shella in East Khasi Hills District.
The SPV Committee headed by the state’s chief secretary was constituted as per the ruling of the Supreme Court for implementing various developmental schemes in these areas.

SHILLONG, July 13: Nongshken MDC, Grace Mary Kharpuri’s conspicuous absence during the election for the post of Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) resulted in her opponent in Nongkrem MDC, Hispreaching Son Shylla being elected unopposed to lead the Council.
The election was necessitated after the former CEM, Pynshngain N Syiem tendered his resignation letter from the post before the start of the emergent session held earlier on Tuesday after 17 members withdrew their support to Executive Council (EC) led by the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA).
