Gujarat model: Is Rajasthan BJP's new Hindutva lab? 15.12.2017 Deccan Herald - Analysis
As the BJP celebrated the fourth anniversary of the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan, the year 2017 will also be remembered for incidents of intolerance that stoked nationwide outrage. The peaceful state witnessed some of the most controversial and communal incidents of violence that started with the murder of Pehlu Khan by a mob of cow vigilantes, then the protests and threats against the makers of the Bollywood movie Padmavati, and most recently the gory, video-recorded murder of a migrant Muslim labourer in the name of love jihad. The reasons could be, firstly the way the Rajasthan government dealt with the cases reported. Secondly, Chief Minister Rajes silence while fanatics overran the state, unafraid of the law. A timeline of unforgettable incidents starts with the sealing of Jaipurs Hotel Hayat Rabbani by cow vigilante groups on the night of March 17 over rumours that it served beef. The restaurant could be reopened only 74 days later after a Forensic Sciences Lab report revealed that the ...

Essel Infra UP solar tariff gets regulator's OK, others to match bid 27.11.2017 DNA: Top News
Tariff of Essel Infraprojects' solar power plant at Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been upheld by Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, more than a year after the project was commissioned. After considering a demand for rejecting Power Purchase Agreements between Uttar Pradesh Power Corp and eight other power producers including Essel on the ground that the tariff is not consumer friendly, the commission has now accepted the tariff discovered through competitive bidding. Essel Infraproject, would be the biggest beneficiary as its tariff at Rs 7.02 paise was the lowest and all other eight successful bidders will now have to match it. However, most of the bidders expressed their unwillingness to accept Essel's lowest bid. Essel Infraprojects, an enterprise of Dr Subash Chandra-led Essel Group, was awarded 50 mega watt (MW) solar project by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency under the state Solar Power Policy 2013. "All principal secretaries, secretaries, and HoDs are requested to ensure that all officials remain available for public hearings from 10 to 11 am," the department stated, adding that the presence of officials at the public hearings was being closely monitored by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). The circular further stated that a status report is being sent to the HoDs concerned ...
