BJP: Krishna Byre Gowda's followers grabbed prime land 4.3.2017 Deccan Herald - News
BJP leader N R Ramesh on Saturday said supporters of Agriculture Minister Krishna Byregowda have grabbed 22 acres and 35 guntas of government land in North Bengaluru taluk. Addressing reporters, Ramesh said the land is in survey number 103 of village Kodagala Hatti in Hunasamaranahalli village panchayat in Jala hobli. The cost of the land in the open market today is Rs 250 crore as it is close to the Kempegowda International Airport. Land grabbers have succeeded in grabbing around 5,000 acres of government land and are now eyeing this chunk of land. Some government officials too have connived with these land sharks and created bogus land records claiming to be owners of the land. Small sheds have come up on this piece of land and records they possess show that they have been living there for more than two decades. Further, these people were given hakku patra (land holding documents) too. "These hakku patras are bogus and have been created in active connivance with panchayat officials," added Ramesh. When ...

Residents of Defence Colony, Indiranagar, fear that land sharks are out to grab their playground. Defence Colony Park 3, situated between Fourth Main and Sixth Main in Indiranagar, off 100 Feet Road, is a popular playground for youngsters in the area. Schools in the neighbourhood use the field for sports meets as well. However, since November 2016, unknown persons have fenced off a portion of the playground claiming that the land belongs to them. "It is unclear who is staking claim on the land. Since November, several boards have come up with different names," said Colonel Raj Mannar, president of the Defence Colony Cooperative Housing Society Ltd (DCCHSL). "Some goons are staying in a shed on the land and preventing people from entering the property," Col Mannar added. Members of Defence Colony Residents' Association (DECORA) and DCCHSL wrote to the local police, BBMP assistant executive engineer of their ward and to the principal secretary to the department of co-operation regarding the encroachment. ...

No ground for sporting glory 27.8.2016 deccanherald.com
India's grand Rio Olympic ambitions could fetch nothing beyond Sindhu's silver and Sakshi's bronze. Like most Indians, as Bengalureans wondered what went wrong, the reasons lay there tellingly across the City:Playgrounds, encroached and in deep decay; layouts without an inch of sporting space; hyper-expensive clubs and an urban planning system, clueless and apathetic. Indeed, a cosmetic course correction could be seen in pockets. But beyond those grounds in the heart of the City, dedicated, affordable and well-equipped sports facilities remain a pipedream for lakhs of children. Realty projects have invaded every nook and corner, making a mockery of planned development. Civic amenity sites, earmarked for playgrounds and other allied facilities, are wantonly encroached. Land sharks, in collusion with politicians, BDA and BBMP insiders have perfected the art of fabricating documents to claim ownership of these sites. Their designs clearly go beyond lakes and drains. Former national Heptathlon champion, ...

Green lessons from Delhi 23.7.2016 deccanherald.com
Land sharks, in connivance with the political class, have played havoc with Bengaluru's once celebrated greenery. Every rule in the book has been violated to encroach water bodies, parks and open spaces. But as rules are now being bent to give the illegalities an official blessing, here's a look at Delhi, where stringent norms have largely kept the green cover intact. Fifteen to 20% of Delhi's total area has been allocated for parks/green belt in the Master Plan 2021, as a senior Delhi Development Authority (DDA) official explains. The proportion of land earmarked for parks and playgrounds in residential colonies depends on the population density in that particular area. The DDA has ensured that the builders adhere to the building bye-laws and strictly follow the layout plan leaving adequate space for parks and other civic amenities. The master plan applies equally to the whole of Delhi, but the Lutyens Bungalow zone follows different building bye-laws (those meant for bungalows). Since the area of plots ...

Marigowda's advance bail plea hearing put off 22.7.2016 deccanherald.com
The High Court on Friday questioned how bail can be granted to a person obstructing the work of a public servant. Justice K N Phaneendra made these observations while hearing the anticipatory bail application filed by K Marigowda, ex-president of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat and a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The state government has opposed Marigowda's anticipatory bail application saying the petitioner is an influential person with political clout and would influence the investigation, threaten and tamper the prosecution witnesses. In its objection, the government cited 11 cases filed against Marigowda in Mysuru. Further, the government contented that Marigowda was involved in land mafia. The petitioner obstructed C Shikha, Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, abused her in filthy language and threatened her of dire consequences in full glare of media and the public, the government stated. The petitioner stated that the complaint registered by Shikha ...

Fictitious documents

In January this year, a section of residents of Palya village had complained against the officer. Of the seven complaints, the tahsildar was prima facia found guilty in two cases.
