Haryana to increase daycare centres 20.4.2018 General News
The Haryana government has decided to increase the number of daycare centres for children of construction workers to 88 from the present 22 in the state, Labour and Employment Minister Nayab Singh Saini said. The daycare centres support in providing education, nutrition and take care the healthcare needs of the children of construction workers. Saini said the government would also launch programmes to train to construction workers to upgrade their skills. A campaign would be run to register labourers in the state. The state government is making efforts to raise the standard of living of labourers and their families, he added. The minister urged the central government to open a State Academy of Construction in Haryana.

'Anganwadi' workers must be given minimum fixed salary: Paswan 19.4.2018 General News
Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan has expressed concern over the low wages of 'anganwadi' workers and demanded that they be raised to the level of minimum salary existing in the states where they are employed. Paswan noted that a large number of these workers come from poor economic background and many of them were from scheduled castes and tribes, a statement said. Their present wages are nearly Rs 3,000, which is very low, he said. They should be given the minimum salary fixed in the state where they render their services, Paswan said. Anganwadi is a type of mother and child care centre. They were started by the Indian government in 1985 as part of the integrated child development services programme to combat child hunger and malnutrition. He made the suggestions to 'Niti Aayog' at a function yesterday during which challenges facing good nutrition for children were discussed.

The Supreme Court today asked Jay Shah, son of BJP president Amit Shah and 'The Wire' and its scribes, to try to amicably settle the criminal defamation case lodged by the former against the news portal and others.
