Bangladeshi national found in possession of Aadhar, Pan cards 16.5.2018 General News
A Bangladeshi national was found in possession of Aadhar and PAN cards when he was nabbed along with two of his countrymen for illegally staying here for the past over four years, police said today. Mohammed Yousuf, Masum Billa and Mohammed Babu (in the age group of 20-30), entered the country after illegally crossing the border, they said. With the help of others, they migrated to Hyderabad and were residing in a rented house, police said, adding, they were working as labourers. Yousuf obtained Aadhaar card by furnishing false information to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) authorities, Balapur Police Station Inspector S Mohan Reddy said. Based on Aadhaar card, he procured PAN and Voter ID cards by submitting fabricated documents, the inspector said.

Employee Pension Scheme (EPS) pensioners can now submit a life certificate without the 12-digit unique identity number, Aadhaar, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), said on Tuesday.The above facility can also be availed by pensioners who do possess Aadhaar, but fail the fingerprint authentication.EPFO today issued instructions to all pension disbursing banks and post offices, directing them to provide alternative mechanisms, for pensioners facing problems in providing digital Jeevan Pramaan (an Aadhar based digital life certificate for pensioners).The body listed out the following mechanism, for giving pension to the pensioners who cannot get and submit Jeevan Pramaan:- Effort should be made to ensure that such pensioners are facilitated for Aadhaar enrolment. Aaadhar can do little to stop banking frauds: SC to Centre 5.4.2018 General News
The Supreme Court today observed that Aadhaar can do little to stop banking frauds and also questioned the Centre for asking the entire population to link their mobile phones with the unique identity card "just to catch a few terrorists". The apex court also observed that bank officials were "hand-in-glove" with fraudsters and that scams do not happen because the culprits are unknown. The court made the observations after the Centre argued that Aadhaar would help curb ills like terrorism and banking frauds.
