To support the Centre's Digital Locker project, the Gujarat University will now be offering DigiLocker facility to students that would not only safeguard their degree certificates, marksheets etc but the same can be accessed from anywhere. The decision was taken in a syndicate meeting on Wednesday. Himanshu Pandya, Vice-Chancellor, GU, said, "We will now be becoming an issuer of DigiLocker. This will help students establish a digital depository for degree certificates, mark sheets, etc for the safe storage and authenticity by linking their Aadhar card number. Students will be able to pull their documents using DigiLocker, anywhere and share them online. For the same, we will be providing them with a unique identification number with help of it, students and our staff will be able to surf documents." Even on a day when the AAP government continued to blame the bureaucracy for delaying the projects in the national Capital, government officers held an important meeting with an aim to expand the number of Aadhaar centres in the city. With Delhiites facing trouble in updating the address and contact details in their Aadhaar cards, the Delhi government's revenue department held a meeting with the officials of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), district magistrate and registrars to resolve the issues. As of now, there are 451 listed centres in Delhi in various banks and schools. "We want to expand the number of centres in Delhi, and for that, we have decided to tie up with the education department. As per the initial plan, we want to have mobile teams in schools for the enrolment of students. This will solve the problem at the first step itself," a senior government official said. The UIDAI has introduced facility to enable Aadhaar holders to obtain their Aadhaar update history online, which can be downloaded and provided to various authorities on demand for availing various services. "This is yet another innovative and useful facility through which people can now obtain their own Aadhaar update history from the UIDAI's website and can use it in support of their assertion of address, etc. We have launched its Beta version," its CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey said. To avail this facility, Aadhaar holders will have to go to the UIDAI website and click on Aadhaar update history. A section on the website will then open where the Aadhaar holder will need to fill the Aadhaar number or virtual ID and the security captcha. The person will then receive an OTP which will have to be feeded in a box displayed on the website to see the history. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday asked all the state governments, including the state of Jammu and Kashmir, to again take all necessary steps to prevent the entry of illegal migrants, including Rohingyas from Myanmar. In a letter sent to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Bharat Bhushan Vyas and to the other state governments, Anuj Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, called on them to "kindly review this matter (of the entry of illegal migrants) and issue instructions to take necessary steps and share updated information in the prescribed form .. as soon as possible.."
