Clash between two communities in Guj; 2 cops injured, vehicles damaged 27.5.2018 General News
Two policemen and some locals were injured when members of two communities clashed in Gujarat's Porbandar district following an alleged incident of eve-teasing, police said today. The clash took place in the Kirti Mandir area late last night, located at a distance of about 400 km from here, after which the police lobbed teargas shells to control the mob, Porbandar Superintendent of Police (SP) Shobha Bhutada said. The clash was triggered after some members from a community accused a man from another community of harassing a woman passing by, she said, adding that the police were yet to verify the claim. "A large mob, comprising members of both the communities, gathered and started hurling stones at each other, in which two police jawans sustained injuries and were taken to hospital. Special police team formed to identify suspicious elements at metro stations 27.5.2018 General News
In order to prevent crimes in the Delhi Metro, a special police team has been formed to identify suspicious elements roaming on the platforms and trains, a senior officer said. The special team is formed by the Delhi Metro Rail Police that is part of the Delhi Police and looks after over 150 metro stations. The team, comprising a head constable and four constables, roams in and around metro stations and keeps an eye on pickpockets and snatchers, he said. While some members of the team are in civvies, the rest are in uniform. The team was formed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Delhi Metro) Deepak Gauri. The team has prevented cases of molestation and also snatchings by nabbing the accused who were found to be roaming in a suspicious manner, the officer claimed. Leopard beaten up, burnt alive in UP 27.5.2018 General News
A two-year-old leopard was allegedly beaten up and burnt alive by a group of enraged villagers after it attacked over a dozen people in three villages this morning, an official said. The leopard had attacked three people each in Nakhi and Dhobia villages this morning and two more people in Khalerpur, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) RP Singh said. The agitated villagers then allegedly beat up the leopard and when the carnivore hid behind a bush they set the bush afire, the DFO said. Fire tenders were later rushed to the spot to douse the flames, he said, adding that the carcass of the leopard was sent for postmortem.
