Patnaik unveils Smart City logo, websites 12.4.2018 General News
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today unveiled the logo and official website of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL). He also unveiled a city website named Bhubaneswar.me developed by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) today and a promo video on the city for attracting visitors on the eve of 70th Capital Foundation Day. "I remember the devastation caused by Super Cyclone of 1999 and how far we have come since then. Bhubaneswar has evolved as a truly global city. Our cultural heritage, warmth and hospitality of people coupled with smart, modern amenities make the capital city a unique urban experience," Patnaik said. The logo of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited with its vibrant colours represent a fast developing smart city in the form of a butterfly, signifying growth, motion and youthful energy. The five colours used in this logo trace their origin to the five visions of Bhubaneswar Smart City proposal which is: livable city, eco-friendly city, child friendly .

Addressing the valedictory session of the 60th Senior Police Officers' Conference, 2018 here. "The senior police officers should raise the standards of policing to match global benchmark," Patnaik said citing achievements of the state government in disaster management, that has earned appreciation from the United Nations. India inks pact with Canada's IDRC 22.2.2018 General News
The government today signed a pact with Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) for research collaboration in various fields, according to an official statement. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India and Canada's IDRC to usher the 'programme based research support' in addressing current and future global and local developmental challenges was signed, it said. During the signing ceremony, the Indian side appreciated the contribution of IDRC in supporting quality research in various fields, including finance, agriculture, industry and health in India, the statement said today. Since 1972, IDRC has funded 551 research activities worth CAD 159 million in India through institutions, researchers and NGOs. During the last five years (2012-17), 96 research projects worth CAD 51 million were funded by the IDRC in India.

PNGRB changes bid norms for CNG, PNG retail licence 17.1.2018 General News
After "one paisa" bids spoilt the initial auction rounds, oil regulator PNGRB has proposed to radically change the bidding parameters for obtaining a licence to retail CNG and piped cooking gas in cities. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has proposed to conduct future auctions by asking companies to quote the tariff they will charge for transportation of CNG and piped gas or PNG within the city, with lowest rate getting preference. They would also be asked to quote the number of CNG stations and households proposed to be connected within a given timeframe, according to PNGRB's public notice on revised bidding criteria. Besides, bidders will also have to quote how much pipeline would they lay on winning the licence. Oil regulator to offer 100 CGD licences for bidding this month 11.1.2018 General News
Oil regulator PNGRB will this month offer for bidding CNG retailing licences in 100 cities on revised terms, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said today. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has so far held eight rounds of bidding where companies were asked to quote the tariff for pipeline that carries gas within the city limits. The bidding criteria did not include the rate at which an entity would sell CNG to automobiles or piped natural gas to households using the same pipeline network, leading to companies offering one paisa as tariff to win licences. "PNGRB will offer 100 city gas distribution (CGD) licences for bidding on a new model this month," Pradhan said at a FICCI conference here. The new model would have a different bidding parameter besides the geographical or physical area for the licence being dynamic, he said. He however did not offer details of the new bidding criteria. For providing healthcare services at affordable rate across Odisha, the state government is planning to develop 19 hospitals having 2600 beds under public-private-partnership mode.The affordable healthcare project is expected to see an investment of about Rs 1200 crore for development of hospitals both in greenfield and brownfield mode.
