If you kill one militant, 10 more ready to pick up gun: Mirwaiz to Delhi 18.8.2017 Deccan Herald - News
Cautioning New Delhi that Kashmir problem cant be resolved by killing the militants, moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that if the Indian Army kills one ultra, 10 more are ready to pick up the gun. "Each day young educated boys are being killed and there is a belief in New Delhi that once all of them are killed the problem will be over. But they forget that these boys took to arms as a reaction to repression and for the resolution of Kashmir dispute," Mirwaiz said while addressing a Friday congregration at historic Jamia Masjid here after his release from 57-day house detention. While justfying the militancy, he said, "You may kill one militant, ten more will stand up. So killing them will not kill the sentiment as is evident in their funeral processions. Blow to Pak: US lists Hizbul as a terror outfit 17.8.2017 DNA: Popular News
The US has listed Kashmiri outfit Hizbul Mujahideen as a foreign terrorist organisation, in a boost to India's fight against Pakistan-backed terrorism in the restive Valley. The move also comes as a blow to Pakistan and the terror outfit as it could choke its resources and funding. In June, the US had declared the group's Pakistan-based chief Syed Salahuddin a global terrorist. "These designations seek to deny Hizbul Mujahideen the resources it needs to carry out terrorist attacks," the US State Department said in a statement. Hizb's property and interests in property subject to US jurisdiction are blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from any transactions with the group that largely comprises local recruits controlled by Pakistan. Pakistan's Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have repeatedly praised Hizb commander Burhan Wani. Wani was killed in July last year in an encounter in Kashmir.
