Was there a police nexus with criminals in CP? 23.5.2015 Asian Age: Delhi
Had the Delhi police taken prompt action on the complaint of 43-year-old courier company owner, Biju Varghese, who was brutally killed in Connaught Place on Wednesday, his life would have been saved. A day after the police caught one of his murderers, who had been involved in other criminal cases earlier, sources disclosed that Varghese had filed a complaint with the Barakhamba Road police station about a fortnight ago, informing the police about the threats he had been facing from a local extortionist. However, no action was taken on his complaint. Highly-placed sources said that the DCP in New Delhi district has reprimanded the station house officer for not acting on the complaint. “The cops knew that he has been booked earlier and is a desperate criminal, but still did not act, resulting into loss of Biju’s life,” said the sources, adding, “This is a clear case of police recklessness.” “The main accused arrested on Thursday, Sunny Saiman, used to extort protection money from courier company owners in ...

The car caught fire soon after the incident and Sharan could not escape because its doors jammed due to central locking failure,” said a senior police officer. A passerby called the PCR at about 5.43 am after calling the fire station following which teams of local police and fire officials rushed to the spot and the victim was brought out of the car with the help of fire ...
