KSRTC plans smart, to go for single IT platform 7.4.2018 deccanherald.com
Bengaluru: Tracking all government buses on a single platform, making payments through e-purse or a smart card and increased safety measures are some of the plans drawn up by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). KSRTC, which has adopted IT-enabled services in several fields ranging from vehicle tracking to depot management, is working on a proposal to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to bring the disparate applications and different platforms on to a "central architecture" for improving e-governance. Officials said while the decentralisation of state transport system into KSRTC, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, North Eastern and North Western corporations (NEKRTC and NWKRTC) has improved decision making in accordance with the demands of the particular region, the disconnection in the IT-enabled services has led to confusion. "E-governance is becoming more and more complicated as maintenance of hundreds of servers and data management has become a headache. The ...

'Shortage of engineers delaying Mahamastakabhisheka works' 9.8.2017 Deccan Herald - District
With only six months left for the Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka, which is held once in 12 years, the authorities concerned are yet to begin works at Shravanabelagola town in Hassan district. The festival will be held from February 7 to 26 in 2018. Preparations for the Mahamastakabhisheka usually begin about one and a half years in advance but this time, no such preparations have started, much to the annoyance of the devotees who raise doubts about completion of works in six months. Except construction of 400 steps on Vindhyagiri and iron fencing around the hill by the Archaeological Survey of India, development of the satellite town, laying of roads, upgradation of the KSRTC bus stand and other works have not yet started. The devotees feel that things are not moving as expected. No political compatibility Speaking to DH, Jain mutt seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami was also of the opinion that as Deputy Commissioner V Chaitra was transferred, the works are being delayed. Steps should be taken to complete ...

Public roads, private chaos 17.6.2017 deccanherald.com
Getting trapped in peak-hour traffic near the K R Puram cable-stayed bridge should be every motorist's worst nightmare. Triggering the madness, hundreds of private buses stop right at the bridge's entry point. The traffic piles up so badly that the entire Outer Ring Road underneath comes to a grinding halt. Motorists assume that heading out of the city would be a breeze once they pass the hyper-clogged Hebbal flyover. But the heavy congestion opposite Esteem Mall would stump them. Dozens of private buses would be lined up without any order to pick up passengers at will, a definite recipe for chaos. Not shifting But unauthorised private bus stops sparking massive traffic congestions are not just an outer city phenomenon. Right within the city centre, in transport hubs such as Majestic, City Market and Kalasipalyam, private bus operators reign supreme. They are in no mood to shift to the outskirts, where satellite bus stops have sprung up albeit with disuse problems of their own. Weekends and holiday ...
