Agri Business Incubation (ABI) Centre of ICAR-CIRCOT established under NIAP is promoting entrepreneurship and nurturing the establishment of start-ups based on the technologies developed by the institute in the area of post-harvest processing of cotton and value addition to its by-produce.
There are new challenges in agriculture, small farmers need to be helped with technology at the ground level so that input costs can be reduced. The farmer should test his soil regularly and there is a need to speed up the pace of organic farming.
Government of India has been promoting traditional farming in the States through dedicated Schemes, namely, Mission Organic Value Chain Development North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) since 2015-16.
As on date 4, 53,622 farmers are practicing organic farming under Participatory Guarantee
System (PGS India) and 11, 47,401 farmers are registered in TraceNet under third party certification.
The estimated value of domestic organic market was Rs. 500-1000 crores as per Yes Bank study published in 2015.
