Her parents have alleged that she committed suicide unable to bear the harassment meted out by her in-laws. Geetha had married Gopal, a weaver from Agrahara Layout, on October 21, 2009. According to her parents, she did not share a cordial relationship with her husband and his family. Police said a family function was scheduled for Saturday at the household. Geetha, however, was apparently upset as her parents were not invited. On Saturday morning around 7 am, she went to her neighbour Rafiq’s house and jumped into the six-feet deep underground water tank, police added. The body has been kept at the Yelahanka Government Hospital for a post-mortem. Sampigehalli police have booked a case of dowry death under Section 304 (B) of the Indian Penal Code.
