To the editor: Yesterday, President Obama's supposed economic stimulus package (actually called The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) passed the House. Realizing that this legislation is actually an economic spending wish list for Democrats, including money for "habitat restoration," "global warming research," "climate modeling," the National Endowment of the Arts, the "Hazardous Substance Superfund," Headstart programs, Amtrak, the controversial group ACORN, child care, low-income housing, as well as extended unemployment benefits and more food stamp relief (maybe necessary but not in this stimulus bill), all the House Republicans voted against the bill.
