On Jan 2 2021, the newsrack service has been shut down permanently.

It has been a nice long run from the Sarai days in 2004 to being hosted on its own domain around 2006. Beside maintenance, there has been no real active development on the code or the features since early 2008. Since 2015, even all that maintenance was pretty bare bones. A lot of news sources no longer provide reliable RSS feeds and since mid 2018, there were growing issues with the service and I only kept it alive to assist a handful of users.

So, it was time to shut this down. The internet world in 2020 is vastly differently from 2003 when I first conceptualized this service. Thanks for using this all these years.

This is an archive of previously crawled content that will be kept around for a few weeks.

INC will become 'PPP Congress' after Karnataka polls: Modi 5.5.2018 General News
All guns blazing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today mounted a scathing attack on the Congress over corruption, and asserted it will become "Punjab, Puducherry, Parivar" Congress after its defeat in the Karnataka Assembly polls. With the D-day for the polls drawing closer, Modi upped the ante against the Siddaramaiah government, alleging it has become a "corruption tank" for the Congress with a pipeline connected to Delhi, "where the money reaches directly". He also accused the top Congress leadership of auctioning tickets, party positions and even the chief minister's post. "After May 15 (when poll results will be declared), Indian National Congress will be reduced to 'PPP Congress'-- P for Punjab, P for Puducherry, and P for Parivar (family)," Modi told an election rally in Gadag, where he predicted the state's ruling party would be decimated in the elections. BJP's Rajya Sabha nominee Rajeev Chandrasekhar today hit out at senior Congress leader P Chidambaram for "blatant attempt" to rewrite the history of the UPA government after failing to act on CAG reports on coal and 2G scams. "It is a blatant attempt to rewrite his (Chidambaram) government's history, which was plagued by several scams including 2G and Common Wealth Games scams, besides coal scam," he told PTI here. Chandrasekhar, who was an independent Rajya Sabha member, today joined the BJP, a day after the party nominated him as its candidate for the March 23 polls to fill four seats to the Upper House of Parliament from Karnataka. At the launch of his book 'Speaking Truth To Power' here yesterday, Chidambaram had said the CAG report on telecom was a "gross exaggeration" and people failed to treat "a business problem as a business problem and find business solution." Chidambaram was wrong in trying to make people believe that it was a private dispute, Chandrasekhar ...
